1. Software License
Helios Lab is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 (BUSL-1.1). The Business Source License is not an Open Source license, but it provides many of the same freedoms while allowing us to sustain development of our products.
2. License Summary
The BUSL-1.1 license provides the following rights:
- You can use, modify, and distribute the software for any non-production purpose.
- For production use, a commercial license is required.
- After a specified period (usually 3-4 years), the version becomes available under an open source license like Apache 2.0.
3. Commercial Licensing
For commercial use of Helios Lab, we offer several license options:
- Professional License: For individuals and small teams
- Enterprise License: For larger organizations with advanced needs
- Educational License: Special pricing for academic institutions

4. Third-Party Software

Business Source License 1.1 Parameters Licensor: Helios Lab Licensed Work: Helios Lab Platform The Licensed Work is (c) 2025 Helios Lab Additional Use Grant: You may make use of the Licensed Work, provided that you do not use the Licensed Work for a Rocket Design Service. A "Rocket Design Service" is a commercial offering that allows third parties (other than your employees and contractors) to access the functionality of the Licensed Work so that such third parties directly benefit from the propulsion simulation or optimization features of the Licensed Work.
